An Emotional Girl

You know that country song, "Emotional Girl" by Teri Clark...? "...I'm an emotional girl, I can't help myself. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry, sometimes I do both and I don't know why..." Yeah, that's me these days! I've decided that hormones really suck! I had 3 major breakdowns within 2 hours the other night. It all started with me trying to find something to wear to go to dinner. Nothing fancy, i just wanted to throw on a decent tee shirt and my jeans (I was in my jammies, they're waaay more comfortable than real clothes) and go. No such luck. Every shirt I have fits no further than my bellybutton. Not attractive, even with the layered look. I have very nice maternity shirts, but they require some thought and planning to wear. They're more dressy than I was needing at that time. Anyway, yesterday I had to go buy new shirts. All is well for the time being. ;o) The other two breakdowns were really ridiculous and not worth sharing! LOL! Poor Cory! I figure if he can stick with me through this, he'll stick with me forever!!! This 3rd trimester is a lot more emotional than the first...and than I expected. I'm finally ready for this pregnancy to be over. I'm not sick of it, I still enjoy all her, not-so-little, movements and the hiccups are great. I love watching her reaction to music (She loves Michael Buble too!) oh, and heartburn has become my new best friend! I'm ready to meet her and I really miss being able to tie my shoes. I can see how eventually you're just flat out done! In about 3 weeks I'll be considered "full term" and although they won't stop labor from progressing at the point I'm at now, they'll be expecting it then! That's so amazing to me. The time, as it happens, seems to go by SO slow, but when you look at the whole big picture, it seems like it's flown by!
Anyway, I'm a slacker, so here's the update from my last appointment.
32 week check up: Everything, once again, was great! I weighed in at 147 *sigh*. Next time I go in they're going to have to start off by moving the big weight thing on the bottom directly to 150! ;o) Oh well! As long as I have a healthy baby! Ellie is still head down and this time the dr. said it's unlikely that she'll move from that position. Kind of cool! Her heart beat was strong as well as her movements and the dr. had a hard time keeping up with her to get a heart rate! Busy, busy, busy! Other than that we really didn't find out anything new. We have an appt. on Wednesday (April 2nd) to pre-register at Labor and Delivery so that when I go into labor, I don't have to stop at ER or anything first, I can just go straight up! Should save us a little time and brain power in the heat of the moment! I can't think of very many things that would be more annoying than trying to fill out my name, SSN and signature 3258745 times while working through contractions! :o)

30 weeks

First, I want to say that I got the results for that Glucose Test and I passed! No Gestational Diabetes for me!! I am, though, slightly anemic. Nothing too serious though. I've been instructed to take 325mg of Ferrous Sulfate once/day. I'm wondering if that's part of the reason I've been so tired lately...? I've been feeling good, just, like I said, tired. I'm off work for 2 weeks, then go back to work for 2 weeks, then I'm done for the summer! We have a lot going on right now, so I need the extra time...and energy...to get things together without losing my mind! We're purchasing my Mom and Ben's house and moving in dangerously close to my due date. So between packing, needing to "nest" and then getting settled, we have a lot on our plate. Cory's been SO great! He's picked up some slack on the house work since my energy and coordination have slightly dissipated. ;o) I don't even know what I would do without him! We're getting more and more excited to meet little Miss Ellie! I know it's still too early, but I really want to be done just so i can see her! Only 65 more days!!!

Our 30 week check was short and sweet. The dr. was over in the main hospital delivering a baby so the nurse did all the routine checks for us. Ellie's heart rate was 146, she said , "Perfect!" She discovered that sometime in the last 2 weeks Ellie has turned herself so she's head down! She'll probably flip flop again a time or two but for right now that's where she is! I was also informed that some of the crazy movements I've been feeling are not really the baby "stretching" but in fact Braxton Hicks Contractions. Not painful, thank God, they just feel like her head on one side and her butt on the other were poking out as far as they could at the same time. This is why I thought she was stretching. Usually, almost immediately, after I feel this I feel her get all wiggly and the nurse put it to me like this, "If your home was closing in around you wouldn't you get a little wiggly too?" :o) I laughed! It's true, I'd probably get a little squirmy. It's neat to know just one more thing that's going on in there! She's still moving around as busy as ever! It's quite obvious that she's running out of room though. Things are definitely becoming tighter and her movements are more and more obvious. I love every minute of it though, even if they are becoming increasingly uncomfortable. And...to close this post, I need to add that I now weigh in at 143. ;o)

28 weeks

Well, I'm a little late in posting this, but I wanted to make sure I get this up before my next appt. I had our 28 week check up and Glucose Test on Tuesday March 4. During the check up everything looked perfect! Most importantly, Ellie's heart beat was in the 150's and is measuring right where she should be! She's moving around like crazy and is getting stronger by the day! Some of her movements are becoming quite a bit stronger and sometimes uncomfortable. She's definitely an active little one! I learned in my weekly pregnancy/baby update that she is about 14-15 inches long and 2.5 lbs. now!
Next... I gained 7 lbs. in that 4 weeks since the last appt. I'm now up to 141.5! For a grand total of 16 lbs. *sigh*
As for the Glucose Test...Everything was normal there, I haven't developed Gestational Diabetes!!! For those of you who don't know what this test involves... when you go in, you have to drink about 4 oz. of a thick sugary liquid (either orange or lemon-lime) then wait an hour and get your blood drawn. It's just to make sure your body metabolizes sugar properly. Everyone says that the liquid is the most awful thing ever, but I really didn't think it was that bad. Just tasted like orange soda with no bubbles. I got a little bit of a sugar rush about 15 minutes after drinking it (oh by the way, you can't eat ANYTHING 2 hours before the test) but nothing too horrific! Like I said, everything with that ended up great. They did find, though, that I'm a little on the anemic side of "normal" (they test for this too) so I've been instructed to take 325mg of Ferrous Sulfate once/day. I feel fine, but maybe this explains the increase of sleep I've needed lately ;o)
My appts. are now every 2 weeks (AHHH!) so my updates will become more frequent!
